The highly respected architectural historian Jeff O’Dell completed an intensive historical survey of Henrico County in 1976 and refers to this property as Penick Place, with the date of construction as 1792. The DHR’s identification number for this property is 043-0234. It is also very likely that, given the rarity of properties this old, it would qualify for listing on the National Register but, according to the present owner, all indications are that it has not yet been evaluated. There is some current difference of opinion among historical architects as to whether the stucco is or is not original and also whether the Front Porch (evidence on front and left sides) was or was not original.

The adjacent 5.5 acres of land, in two parcels MLS # 2929871 and 2929872, are also available for purchase. Please inquire. They may be sold to the Purchasers of the main house or retained by the family but they will not be sold before the main house property.

Additionally, Henrico County has plans, currently scheduled for 2011, to re-route the creek which would alter the flood plain and thus return several more of the adjacent acres to buildable status, raising their resale value.
